This is one you will really like even if it’s a little dated. It seems like Digg.com was bootstrapped with $ 2000! Read the story here. And interestingly $ 1200 was the domain cost. Brilliant.

Too good to be true. Truerumors.com was subsequently sold to NowPublic.com for an undisclosed sum. Wonder if anyone has a true rumour regarding the undisclosed sum.

    Kawasaki seemed to have wasted a lot of money on that one.

    Not the best example.

    The success of his website directly related to its appearance on Techcrunch. And that for most practical purposes means connections!

    He got them to write thrice.

    For what ??

      Interesting, I take it that you have more information on the sale value (to NowPublic.com). Of course I agree to your point about his network and connections being the most important reason for Truemors.com success. I also agree that those of us with less star power will have to use more conventional methods to drive traffic. But my point was more about the cost he seems to have incurred to launch the site.
